Today, on the 2nd day of 2080 Paush, for the first time in Karnali Province, the construction of a cricket ground at Birendranagar Municipality, Kalinchok was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Mr. Rajkumar Sharma.
The estimated cost of the cricket ground is Rs. 98 lakhs
The construction contract amount is Rs. 73 lakhs 18 thousand 337 rupees 66 paise

The Minister of Social Development of the Karnali State Government Honorable Khadg Bahadur Pokharel, Member Secretary of the Karnali State Sports Development Council Mr. Bishwamitra Sanjyal, Central Treasurer of the Nepal Cricket Association Padam Bahadur Khadka, President of the District Cricket Association Surkhet Shridhar KC, etc. It was held in the presence of related officials.
Bishwamitra Sanjyal, Member Secretary of Karnali Province Sports Development Council, expressed the belief that the 5-P policy and program will be implemented in order to develop sports in Karnali Province and Karnali will be represented in the national team of Nepal in the coming 90s.
In the inauguration program, the Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Hon’ble Rajkumar Sharma directed that the quality construction work of the cricket ground will be completed within the stipulated time and the national cricket tournament will be held along with the inauguration of the ground.
The Central Treasurer of Nepal Cricket Association, Padam Bahadur Khadkaju, said that since 081 Baisakh, the cricket players of Karnali have strong self-ability to play cricket in their own ground and to compete in national level competitions. He also thanked the Karnali State Sports Development Council and the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Karnali State Government for taking the initiative to build the cricket ground.
The women cricket players who participated in the Prime Minister’s Cup were also bid farewell at the opening ceremony of the cricket ground.
